Representatives of the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme funded GREENER project from Centria took part in a study trip organized by the joint BioKama project of Oulu University of Applied Sciences and Centria in mid-June, during which several different biogas plants were visited.
The trip to Eastern Finland included visits to six very different biogas sites, such as a plant maintained by regional waste management, and a self-built farm-scale biogas plant. We heard examples of good practices and also pitfalls to avoid when designing a biogas plant. For example, according to the operators, it is a good idea to have a plan for the use of digestate before purchasing the equipment. It is also good to know the available input so that the hardware and processes can be selected according to the input.
During the trip, information about the GREENER project and the good energy practices and energy services was also shared. If you want to know about GREENER project the good energy practices and energy services click here!
