The GREENER project “CLUSTERING REMOTE REGIONS for ENERGY RESILIENCE and GROWTH” has officially started the process of combining the efforts of 3 NPA projects (SMARCTIC, LECo and h-CHP) to address a common challenge: increasing awareness and transferring knowledge about the latest energy solutions to public authorities, communities and businesses across the NPA area.
GREENER will receive financial support from the European Union’s Northern Periphery and Arctic 2014-2020 Programme, whose mission is to help to generate vibrant, competitive and sustainable communities, by harnessing innovation, expanding the capacity for entrepreneurship and seizing the unique growth initiatives and opportunities of the Northern and Arctic regions in a resource efficient way.
GREENER will establish a critical mass of information on energy efficient and renewable solutions. An integrated approach to dissemination will achieve wider implementation and increased scalability of energy efficient resources in housing and public infrastructures across the NPA Programme area. The project is led by the ERNACT network (Ireland) with close cooperation from Centria University of Applied Sciences and University of Oulu, both in Finland. On the 19th of August, 3 partners met for the first time to establish the first steps of the project.
20 other entities have joined as Associate Partners, further adding value by increasing awareness within and beyond the NPA network, with representation from Sweden, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Norway, Germany and Atlantic Canada. The partners will optimise collaboration initiatives to connect end users across regions and increase transnational cooperation.
